For some reason you may need to delete a product catalog from the Monetate platform. Doing so requires attention to the product catalog's use in multiple domains in your account and its use in any recommendation strategies.
You can encounter one of two situations when preparing to delete a product catalog:
- The product catalog is not connected to one or more domains in your account
- The product catalog is connected to one or more domains in your account
The product catalog's connection to any domains determines the steps you must take when deleting the catalog.
Deleting a Product Catalog Without Domain Connections
Follow these steps to delete a product catalog that is not associated with a domain in your account.
- Click DATASETS in the top navigation bar.
- Click Product Catalogs in the left-hand category listings.
- Scroll as necessary to find the product catalog that you want to delete, and then confirm that
0 Connected domains
appears in the CONNECTED DOMAINS column. - Click the name of the product catalog, click the additional options menu (...), and then click Delete Dataset.
- If the product catalog is part of any recommendation strategy, regardless if that strategy is used in any active or inactive experience, then you must select a replacement product catalog for each strategy listed in the Delete Catalog modal.
- Click the checkbox to acknowledge you understand the possible implications of reassigning product catalogs, and then click SAVE CHANGES AND DELETE.
After the product catalog is deleted, the Product Datasets list page loads with a message confirming the deletion.
The only way to restore a product catalog that you deleted is to create it as if it were a brand new catalog, starting with creating the schema.
