Delete a Recommendations Dataset

You cannot restore a Recommendations dataset that you delete. You can only recreate it by creating its schema as a new Recommendations dataset.

For some reason you may need to delete a Recommendations dataset from the Monetate platform. If the dataset that you want to delete is used in any recommendation strategies, then you must replace it in those strategies as part of the process.

At this time the Delete Recommendations Dataset modal only shows the recommendation strategies in which a Recommendations dataset is used and doesn't include any local bundles if your account includes the Monetate Dynamic Bundles feature.

Follow these steps to delete a Recommendations dataset.

  1. Click DATASETS in the top navigation bar, and then, if necessary, select Product Data.
  2. Select Recommendations from View on the Datasets list page.

Callout of the View selector on the Datasets list page. The selector options include Recommendations.

  3. Find the Recommendations dataset that you want to delete, and then click its name to load its details page.
  4. Click the additional options menu (...), and then select Delete dataset.

Callout of the additional options menu and its Delete Dataset option on the details page of a Recommendations dataset

  5. If the dataset is part of any recommendation strategies, move to step 6. If the dataset isn't part of any recommendation strategies, then click the checkbox to acknowledge you understand the implications of deleting the dataset, and then click DELETE.

Callout of the disclaimer and the DELETE button on the Delete Recommendations Dataset modal for a Recommendations dataset that isn't used in any recommendation strategies. The disclaimer reads, 'I understand that this action cannot be undone.'

  6. If the dataset is part of one or more recommendation strategies, then select a replacement Recommendations dataset for each strategy listed in the Delete Recommendations Dataset modal.

If you need to review the details of a recommendation strategy, click its name to open its configuration page in a new browser tab or window.

Callout of the RECOMMENDATIONS DATASET selector for a recommendation strategy listed in the Delete Recommendations Dataset modal

  7. Click the checkbox to acknowledge you understand the implications of deleting the dataset, and then click SAVE CHANGES AND DELETE.

Callout of the disclaimer and the SAVE CHANGES AND DELETE button on the Delete Recommendations Dataset modal for a Recommendations dataset that is used in two recommendation strategies. The disclaimer reads, 'I understand that changing which Recommendations dataset a strategy uses may affect any active experiences using these strategies.'
