Delete a Slotted Recommendation

You cannot restore a slotted recommendation that you delete. You can only recreate its configurations in a new slotted recommendation.

You can delete a slotted recommendation when either of these two states is true:

  • The slotted recommendation is unused
  • The slotted recommendation is used only in experience drafts or paused experiences

You cannot delete a slotted recommendation that's part of an active experience.

Determining How a Slotted Recommendation Is Used

The Experiences modal of a slotted recommendation shows how it's being used. Access this modal in two places in the Monetate platform:

  • By clicking the USAGE column value that appears for the slotted recommendation on the Slotted Recommendations list page

Regardless of how you access it, the Experiences modal shows if a slotted recommendation is unused or if it's used in any active and inactive experiences. If the slotted recommendation is part of an experience, you can click the experience's name to open it in Experience Editor.

Understanding the Experience Status Reported

The Active designation in the Experiences modal's TYPE column indicates one of the following states:

  • The experience is active
  • The experience has a scheduled start date and time
  • The experience has reached its scheduled end time

If you see the Active designation in the Experiences modal, then you cannot delete the slotted recommendation.

The Inactive designation in the modal's TYPE column indicates one of the following states:

  • The experience is a draft
  • The experience is paused
  • The experience is archived

If you delete a slotted recommendation that's part of an inactive experience, then the Product Recommendation selector in the action reverts to the SELECT PRODUCT RECOMMENDATION state.

The Unused designation appears in each modal's TYPE column only if the slotted recommendation isn't used in any experiences.

Deleting a Slotted Recommendation

Follow these steps to delete a slotted recommendation that's not used in any experiences or is part of inactive experiences.

  1. Click COMPONENTS in the top navigation bar, select Product Recommendations, and then click the Slotted Recommendations tab.

  2. Use the search bar on the Slotted Recommendations list page to find the slotted recommendation that you want to delete.

  3. Place your mouse pointer anywhere in the strategy's table row, and then click the delete icon when it appears.

  4. Click DELETE in the Delete modal.

The Slotted Recommendations list page loads, and a message confirming that the slotted recommendation was successfully deleted briefly appears.
